Decentralized Moderation on Fireside Forum empowers Pioneers to actively participate in shaping the app by moderating content in a decentralized manner, where contributions are both recognized and rewarded through a unique tokenomics system. Fireside Forum, Pi Network’s instantiation of a truly decentralized social network, integrates blockchain technology into content moderation to create a healthier, meaningful online environment that ensures meritocracy and holds participants accountable, setting a new standard for social apps in the Web3 era.

As we continue to roll out and refine this feature, we’re announcing new updates that will further improve the moderation algorithms and thus enhance the Pioneer experience, solidifying Fireside Forum as a leader in setting new standards for social platforms in the Web3 era.

These enhancements are designed to empower Pioneers further to organize and moderate their online space on their own, ensuring that each interaction not only contributes to a healthier, more accountable social environment but also aligns with our vision of a transparent, self-sustaining Web3 social network. This propels the community forward in its progress in social decentralization—aligned with reaching Open Network in 2024. Join us in exploring these new features, in addition to other general updates, crafted to foster more meaningful and respectful online conversations.

We are thrilled to see how these enhancements will continue to shape our community-driven social app. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. Stay engaged as we roll out these features and continue to refine this app based on your insights.

Updates to Decentralized Moderation:

Updates are part of our effort to improve moderation through scalable decentralized efforts to achieve the goal of fostering constructive interactions while discouraging negative behavior in a positive community.

  1. Revised Token Rewards and Penalties Based on data collected from the first version of the decentralized moderation feature and community feedback, we have refined the tokenomics associated with content moderation to achieve better results in moderation itself and also more aligned incentives and disincentives through different levels of moderators.
  2. Enhanced Moderation Algorithms and Throttling Measures To prevent misuse of the moderation power, promote fairness, and improve content quality, we’ve introduced sophisticated algorithms and new throttling measures that limit the deletion of posts and optimize posting frequency.
  3. Promotion Time Limits for Moderators We are now requiring moderators to wait a certain time period between completing their necessary batch of moderations and being promoted to a higher moderation level. This allows the system to evaluate a moderator’s contributions over this time period to ensure accuracy before promoting their moderation level.

General Updates:

  1. User Interface Improvements We’ve made several UI/UX enhancements, including clearer access to rules in the channels through a dedicated “Channel Rules” button and an updated user action guide. These changes aim to make the app more intuitive and user-friendly.
  2. Integration of FF Social Profiles and Soft Launch On Pi2Day 2024, we integrated Pi Social Profiles into Fireside Forum to deepen community connections and continue efforts in forging an interconnected ecosystem. We continue to iterate and improve the integration between the two apps.

Pi Network aims to transition to Open Network in 2024, contingent upon meeting specific conditions and strategic objectives detailed in the announcement here. This transition hinges on the collective efforts from our community and the impact of external factors.
