IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PIONEERS
February 21, 2025

Now that Pi’s Open Network has launched, it is important to reiterate to Pioneers that they should be aware and remain vigilant with respect to potential bad actors, scams and illegal activities in order to mitigate the risk of someone attempting to defraud you, steal your Pi, or scam you into transferring Pi or fiat currency to them.

Official Pi Communication Channels.

In order to best protect your Pi, you should regularly visit Pi Network’s official Pi Safety Center where you can find official communications and accounts of Pi Network, official links to different Pi products, and other important information on how to best safeguard your Pi account and wallet.

It is also important to note that Pi and its moderators have been notified that there may be some websites, apps, platforms and other sources that have sought to replicate Pi’s trademark, logos, images, and other brand assets in an effort to impersonate official Pi communications, apps, websites and platform.  These activities are not legitimate, and are neither authorized nor supported by Pi Network.

If you are visiting any other social media platform, online news source, or other channel not identified in the Pi Safety Center, you are doing so at your own risk as those are not associated with Pi Network nor are they likely to be credible, trustworthy, or legitimate.  For the avoidance of doubt, unless the communication, link or information is contained on the Pi Safety Center it is NOT associated in any way with Pi Network in an official or unofficial capacity.

Beware of unassociated and unauthorized persons and entities

In the past, Pi Network has on occasion been notified that various unassociated and unauthorized persons and entities were utilizing our company name for activities that Pi Network was not associated with nor had it authorized.  In some cases, these activities were associated with events and/or activities that we believe were meant to defraud Pioneers and the general public through their misappropriation and unauthorized use of Pi’s name and trademark. In each case, these unauthorized and unaffiliated activities were likely illegal and predatory. In addition to harming Pioneers, these bad actors and their actions have had a negative impact on the Pi Network, its reputation and its operations.

For unaffiliated and unauthorized local activities that have been identified, Pi Network has worked with its legal advisors to determine the best course of action to protect the Pi community and Pi Network.  Where those unaffiliated and unauthorized activities have been verified, Pi has sought to issue official warnings to alert the Pi community and general public of the risk identified. To assist Pioneers, Pi established and maintains the Pi Safety Center which can be found on Pi’s website at the following link:  https://minepi.com/safety/.  The Pi Safety Center lists known risks to the Pi community and the general public, as well as official communications from Pi Network, links to official Pi products, and other important information on how to best safeguard your Pi account and wallet. We strongly recommend that people visit the Pi Safety Center frequently to learn more about identified risks through Pi’s official warning on unauthorized and unaffiliated local activities, which can be found at the following link: https://minepi.com/unaffiliated-unauthorized-activities/. Neither Pi Network, nor anyone affiliated with Pi Network, has any affiliation whatsoever with any parties organizing or engaging in such illegal or harmful activities to our users or the community. Neither Pi Network nor anyone associated with Pi Network will ever request that a Pioneer send them Pi or fiat currency.  If you are requested to do so, you should not participate in such activity and you should immediately report it to Pi or Pi’s moderators.

Pi is free to mine. As such, any such activity which seeks to charge people money for Pi, requests payment of Pi or fiat currency, or makes promises of monetary rewards, future profits, or MLM are not valid and should be avoided.  These activities are unauthorized by Pi Network.

It is also important to note, only KYB-verified businesses are eligible to create non-custodial Pi wallet addresses on the Pi Mainnet blockchain.  If a business you are engaging with does not appear on Pi’s KYB verified business list, then it cannot hold legitimate non-custodial Mainnet wallet addresses and is therefore more likely to be a scam which seeks to steal Pi or fiat currency from you. We strongly recommend that Pioneers refrain from using any third party services that claim they integrated with Pi but are not listed on this KYB services webpage.  If you proceed to transact, including by providing Pi or fiat currency, with a business that is not listed on Pi’s KYB verified business list,  you do so at your own risk, and there is an enhanced risk that you will be the victim of a scam or fraud which results in your loss of Pi or fiat currency.

The Pi community is global in nature, with many users worldwide.  As such, Pi Network cannot monitor, investigate and take action against all unauthorized persons or  activities whether known or unknown to Pi.  However, when Pi becomes aware of such bad actors or unauthorized and illegal activities, Pi seeks to publish official warnings to the Pi community on the link specified above.  When appropriate and reasonable to do so, Pi Network also works with its legal advisors to identify means by which to mitigate the risk of unauthorized activities to Pioneers, and, where appropriate, offers assistance to local law enforcement for purposes of their investigation in order to stop the unauthorized activity, and to identify those responsible for the unauthorized and illegal activities so that local law enforcement may take available actions to ensure that the bad actors do not continue to engage in such activities.
