Highlighting Teams’ Initial Progress at the Halfway Point

Pi Hackathon 2025 is now officially halfway complete! On September 19, participating teams submitted midpoint updates to highlight their progress in the first few weeks of the Hackathon, and share their vision for the remainder of the event.

To give the community a sneak peak, Pi is releasing a video of some of the projects that have been in development during the Hackathon. With only three weeks left in the Hackathon, which officially ends on October 15th, make sure to come back to see what other teams have built and additional developments from the teams featured in the video!

Watch the showcase here:

It’s important to note that inclusion in the showcase does not influence final judging or predict the projects that will win the Hackathon. The feature is designed solely for informational purposes, to spotlight interesting work, and to inspire the community.

Introducing Hackathon 2025 Staking and Reviews

Alongside the midpoint update, Pi Network has rolled out new ways for Pioneers to engage with Hackathon 2025 apps directly inside the Pi Browser: Pioneers can now see the full list of apps submitted to the Hackathon, and Pioneers can now stake Pi on the apps they support to help boost the apps’ visibility within the ecosystem.

How to Access Hackathon 2025 Apps:

  1. In the Pi Browser, go to the PiApps tab
  2. Tap Mainnet Apps under “Browse by Category”
  3. Apply the filter “hackathon25”

From there, Pioneers will find all the apps submitted for Pi Hackathon 2025, with apps continuing to be submitted up until October 15th. Pioneers can now explore and stake Pi on the projects they support. Note that individual apps’ staked values or ranking will not impact the outcome of the Hackathon. Apps will be judged based on the App Review Criteria outlined in the original hackathon announcement.

The Hackathon’s open-ended theme focuses on how Open Network’s external connectivity can expand Pi’s utility. This means building real apps that deliver practical use cases, even for people who’ve never mined Pi. By exploring, staking, and reviewing apps, the Pi community can help highlight which projects bring meaningful utility to the ecosystem.

This new staking and review option extends the existing Ecosystem Directory Staking feature, and by engaging with apps now, Pioneers can help surface emerging projects and support the builders shaping Pi’s ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more updates as Pi Hackathon 2025 heads toward the final judging stage.
